How It Started
Scott Grew Up Taking Things Apart — and Figuring Out How to Make Them Better.
Scott grew up alongside a father who had a background in electronics. From an early age, he was sitting beside him troubleshooting computers, repairing small appliances, and learning to think through a problem before reaching for a tool. That foundation — patience, curiosity, and a genuine love of how things work — never left him.
At Northeast Regional Vocational School in Wakefield, MA, Scott studied electrical and knew immediately it was the right path. At 15, he started calling local electrical companies looking for a foot in the door. Eventually one of them gave him a shot — something he says he’s still grateful for today.
Over the years, Scott built his experience working in both commercial and residential electrical with several local companies. He learned the discipline of large commercial job sites — coordinating with other trades, hitting schedules, delivering work that passes inspection the first time. He also developed a deep respect for residential work — the trust homeowners extend when they let someone into their home, and the responsibility that comes with that.
In 2014, Scott incorporated Finlayson Electric. Not because he had everything figured out — but because he knew exactly the kind of company he wanted to build. One that treats customers the way he’d want to be treated. One that takes pride in every job, no matter the size. One that people in this community can genuinely count on.

Finlayson Electric is a tight-knit crew of three licensed electricians — including Scott — working in the field every day. Behind the scenes, his wife Clancy keeps everything running smoothly, handling office operations, scheduling, and customer coordination.
It’s not a large company, and that’s intentional. It means every job gets personal attention. It means Scott knows exactly what’s happening on every project. And it means when you call Finlayson Electric, you’re dealing with people who genuinely care — not a call center or a dispatcher who doesn’t know your name.

Scott Finlayson holds a Master Electrician license in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine — one of the highest credentials available in the electrical trade. All work performed by Finlayson Electric is completed by licensed electricians, fully permitted, and inspected to current code standards.

We’re based in Kingston, NH and primarily serve homeowners and businesses across Southern New Hampshire and Northern Massachusetts — including Exeter, Hampton, Plaistow, Salem, Andover, Haverhill, Methuen, and surrounding communities.
